Hello,
First my crappy camera, now my crappy projector...
Well, anyway, my Hanimex projector which has done an adequate job for years has suddenly decided to start scratching my film, mainly on the left side...I cleaned it up as best I could remember (can't recall if I saw a post here or it was on another NG or site), then
ran some film that had some shots of the sky I took just for this purpose. Scratches were still there.
Assuming this can't be fixed, does anyone know of a reliable source for decent projectors with 18/24 fps for $200.00 or less?

A similar problem occurred to me last week - see the following post to this board and the helpful reply from Mike: http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/Forum239/HTML/001650.html
In a previous post you asked where you could get some super 8 film adapters for the projector wheels - I have a spare set you can have for free( as long as the postage is cheap) or I can refer you to an English website that sells these.

Projectors are very hard on film no matter what kind they are--I have a very nice Elmo S8 projector and a professional Xenon Eiki projector in my "theater". They both have messed up films in some way. I don't even really use my S8 projector anymore because of the value I place on the film--S8 film is the original(in the case of reversal) and I don't want to hurt it. I watch my S8 in my Minette S-5 viewer then I have it RANK Wet-gate Xfered to edit and show. Good Luck

Hey thanks -- I must have missed that thread -- yes, that's the exact problem I have. I did exactly what Mike suggested and it still scratches. I'm going to check the gate out again to see if something is stuck.

Yes! -- that would be most cool. I can send you USD or -- if it would help, FF -- to cover postage if you like -- I live in Los Angeles...
